“Sir? You ok? Can you tell me what happened?”
The contour of her neck sliding past her uniform collar strikes me.
“Someone’s messed you up bad, but it’s alright; I’m here now. I’ll stay ’til the ambulance comes.”
That smile deserves diamonds.

I’m waiting for the Vampire. As always, fabulous word alchemy.
THanks, Claudette!
I liked how the narrator noticed something like a neck contour in his moment of crisis. Nicely done.
It’s strange what you notice in times of distress.
That second line is a gorgeous detail, and the way it captures the narrator’s attention really speaks to his frame of mind. Fabulous.
❤ Christine ❤ Thanks for your comment.
Hopefully we all will have a guardian angel like this one to be with us in our time of need. Nice story! ♥
People want to help. I firmly believe that.
Last line so full of pathos and poignancy. Well done, Nate
Thanks, Shailaja. I appreciate your feedback.
