Battle

It starts with the pop and slurp of the paint can opening. The bright orange iris of an upturned lid stares at the ceiling. The walls keep rank, defenseless. You jab; blood pools, drips. The open-mouthed victim of a Technicolor life change.

  1. The sounds and visuals do a wonderful job of reinforcing the idea of “violence,” and those last three words are a brilliant resolution.

    1. Thanks, I was hoping to convey that the first swipe of the paint brush formed a dripping mouth on the wall. That’s the part I edited the most out of. Not sure if it came across.
